Carlton Cole \"Carl\" Magee was an American lawyer and newspaper publisher. He also patented the first practical parking meter. He was born in Iowa. Magee graduated from the Iowa State Normal School, now the University of Northern Iowa, in 1894. He moved to New Mexico in 1917 with his wife.
